JANET H GLAZER - PHOTOGRAPHY

Home Page

I entered the worlds of dance, music and art as a child.  As a teen, I began to experiment with transferring the movement of the body onto paper, merging two of my passions.  Soon I was exhibiting works of calligraphic line combined with watercolor and pastels.

In an ironic twist, though allergic to chemicals, I stumbled into photography.  While supervising food photo shoots, the printer noticed some of my negatives and asked if he could enlarge them.  The astounding results opened up another world of expression and suddenly I was exhibiting photographs.  That was over 25 years ago.

Now the camera is my brush, and lens provides a sharper focus as I search for movement, contrasting textures and strong compositional elements.  I like to use the tension between negative and positive space to create drama.  I am fond of smaller compositions that draw the view in; some are meditative and others burst with energy.  I feel that my photographs express the same energy that I poured into my paintings.  You are seeing the world through my eyes.
